What is Restorative Yoga?
Restorative Yoga is a deeply therapeutic and nourishing practice designed to guide the body into a state of profound rest and conscious relaxation. Unlike dynamic styles of yoga, Restorative Yoga uses an array of props (including bolsters, blankets, blocks, and eye pillows) to fully support the physical body in gentle, grounded postures. By removing all effort and muscular tension, students can comfortably remain in postures for extended periods, encouraging the nervous system to shift from the stress of 'fight or flight' into the restorative state of 'rest and digest'.

Why Restorative Yoga Matters Now More Than Ever
In a fast-paced world dominated by stress, packed schedules, and digital fatigue, our nervous systems are frequently stuck in high alert. This constant activation can manifest as insomnia, anxiety, digestive issues, burnout, and physical exhaustion. Restorative Yoga offers a vital antidote to modern life. It creates a quiet, safe space to slow down, regulate the nervous system, release deeply held tension, and cultivate emotional resilience, inner calm, and somatic awareness.

Why Join This Course?
This comprehensive 40 hour CPD training provides an immersive, hands-on environment where you can explore both the art and science of deep relaxation. Within the course you will gain an in-depth understanding of nervous system regulation, trauma-informed facilitation, polyvagal theory, and subtle energy anatomy, including the chakras.
Through practical posture analysis, prop innovation, sequence building, and peer teaching, you will develop the skills and confidence to lead safe and inclusive Restorative Yoga practices. You will also learn how to adapt practices for specific student needs, such as pregnancy, chronic stress, and common physical ailments, and experience an introduction to Yoga Nidra and Pranayama.

Who is This Course For?
This training is designed primarily for qualified Yoga Teachers looking to expand their offering, upskill and deepen their understanding of restorative practices and nervous system health. It is also ideal for dedicated practitioners who wish to immerse themselves in the therapeutic benefits of Restorative Yoga to enrich their personal practice and self-care routine. You are also welcome to join even if you are not a yoga teacher, and simply want to learn more. In this case, you will not need to participate in assessments.
What Will I Be Qualified to Teach?
Upon successful completion of all contact hours and homework, you will be awarded a 40 hour CPD Restorative Yoga Certification. This enables you to:
- Lead dedicated Restorative Yoga group classes, workshops, and masterclasses.
- Incorporate restorative postures, prop setups, and nervous system regulation techniques into general yoga classes.
- Offer tailored, one-to-one restorative sessions for clients dealing with stress, exhaustion, or specific health conditions.
- Integrate trauma-informed language, supportive prop modifications, and pregnancy-safe adaptations into your teaching.
- Guide Yoga Nidra and grounding breathwork techniques with confidence.
