Why Teacher Training?

Thursday 24 SeptemberUpdated Monday 26 OctoberNatalie

If you’ve ever looked at a YTT programme and felt a flutter of curiosity quickly squashed by a voice saying, "I'm not good enough," let’s take a breath and dismantle that right now.

Why Yoga Teacher Training?

There is no ‘perfect’ starting point. The more you wait, the more…well, nothing new happens. It’s a total myth that you need to have handstands in your regular practice or be able to hold plank for 3 minutes before you’re “good enough” to sign up.

Yoga is for the body you have today, not the body you think you should have in five years. If you rely on blocks, if you adapt poses to protect a ‘dodgy’ knee, or if you usually choose Child's Pose, that actually makes you a brilliantly perceptive student.

YTT is about exploring how movement feels in your unique body and learning how to adapt it, not forcing yourself into rigid shapes. Your wobbles and stiffness are welcome here.

You don’t actually have to want to teach!

Soooo many students who sign up have zero intention of ever teaching in a class (…some also change their mind after experiencing how gorgeous it is to teach 🥰). They are there simply because they love the practice and want to carve out time for themselves. If your only goal is to spend a few weekends completely immersed in something that makes you feel good, that is a perfectly valid reason to claim your space on our next course.

Going beyond a 60 minute class

In a standard studio class, we barely have time to scratch the surface. YTT gives you the space to finally ask "why". Why does my hip feel sticky in a lunge? Why do certain breathing exercises make me feel so wonderfully calm, while others make me want to cry? Why do I struggle so much in Savasana?

It’s a completely judgment-free space to peel back the layers of your own mind and body at a pace that entirely suits you.

Find your tribe

There is something so beautifully comforting about sitting in a room with a group of people who are just as curious, passionate (and slightly nervous) as you are. You don't have to fit a certain mould to belong in that circle. You will laugh, you will share cups of tea, and you will find a community that accepts you exactly where you are in your journey.

🦋 If you’ve been waiting for a sign, or for someone to validate that your practice is 'ready' for a training course…consider this it. You don't need to fix yourself, perfect your alignment or learn Sanskrit before you arrive. Come exactly as you are - messy buns, tight hamstrings, busy minds and all.
